Breaking News: New McDonald's Commercial
This blogger has just seen the new McDonald's commercial advertising the American Idol toys that now come on Cartoon Network. The government was strong enough to ban cigarette commercials because they lead to cancer. Well, heart disease kills more than cancer so why not ban advertisments for McDonald's especially those aimed at children. McDonald's is trying to get parents to take their children to McDonald's for the play place and now the parents can go get the American Idol toys as well. This is not good. Two of the cancers killing off American Society have joined forces into a new super cancer. The ad itself will be posted when available. There have to be comments on McDonald's or American Idol. Please post. Commercial itself is the devil, and as such is powerful. Four stars.
Lunesta Commercial
Okay. So admittedly the Cisco commercial was a weak starting point. It was hard to find something else during CSI on CBS because it seems they were doing nothing but promoting their shows. Perhaps a sign of weakness. Interesting episode though with the mounted head and all. Anyway once the commercials returned I found one that Jerry Seinfeld had offered some thoughts on at his Vegas show. It first asks "Does your restless mind keeep you up?" then "Do you lie awake exhausted?" Their solution: the Lunesta seven night challenge. Seinfeld said that all the huge coffees people are drinking going from Starbucks to Starbucks is probably why people cannot get to sleep at night. Seems pretty logical to me. I really don't think that glowing butterfly would really help me get to sleep. I am a lot more restless knowing that on Lunesta I might have one of the half dozen symptoms. If you lie awake exhausted less chemicals in your body would probably be better than adding another chemical. Plus when you start you cannot drive or operate machinery. I think I will just take having a hard time sleeping. A little less coffee and a book before bed oughta help. At least that would be a better than a drug with a dependency. Scary butterfly hurts this commercial. Any thoughts on the scary butterfly or anything else? Post a comment. Two stars.
Cisco Commercial
Onto the first review! Have you seen this commercial? What is this advertising? Is this just about cross-cultural connections? I have no clue. It worked in that it made me look at it. It made me wonder what it is about. What is this human network? Is Cisco trying to network all of us? There is a lot of potential in a large network of humans. Such thinking power. By having a classroom in what appears to be Southwest Asian and a classroom in another country what are they trying to say? Do we need Cisco to compete successfully with other countries? This commercial is confusing, in a brief moment of clarity it flashes something about Cisco telepresence. This appears to be the purpose of the commercial. I do not feel that this international staring contest shows a great deal of utility offered by their telepresence. Therefore it is minimally effective. It appears to be aimed at a business audience. I guess that is why it is one during The Office. Overall one star.
Welcome to the Blog
Well I have been thinking for a while about starting a blog to offer some thoughts on commercials. You know. Commercials. Like the ones on TV. I think they are so interesting. But anyway check back here for daily updates about commercials and hopefully YouTube links to some of the ones I review. I know going into the summer and the start of exams is not the best time to start this so stick with me. This being the first note it is probably going out to very few people. I hope at least these first few people will stick with me and we will see where this goes.
